Znamo kako su bili obučeni stari Rimljani. Vidimo ih na antičkim freskama, mozaicima i kipovima, a gledali smo ih i u kostimiranim filmovima. Možemo zamisliti kako je ta odjeća bila u punom sjaju i kako su je nosili rimski vojskovođe i rimske patricijke…. Ali kako je sam nositi tu odjeću, osjetiti te nabore tunike i …. na vlastitoj koži, zablistati u rimskom ruhu na nekom karnevalu, turističkom obilasku ili čak vjenčanju…. i to je moguće.
U projektu ArchaeoRobe izradili smo kolekciju rimske odjeće po autentičnim izvorima, u suvremenim materijalima i postupcima koji su najbliži onom iz antičkog vremena.

We know how the ancient Romans dressed. We can see them on ancient frescoes, mosaics and statues, and we watched them in movies. We can imagine what their clothes looked like in all its glory and how they were worn by Roman commanders and patricians …. But what it feels like to wear these clothes, feel the creases of tunics and …. on our own skin, and dazzle in Roman attire at a carnival, tour or even a wedding …. is also possible to know.
In the ArchaeoRobe project… we have made a collection of Roman clothing based on authentic historical sources, using those modern materials and design methods which are the closest to authentic period ones.

Kako so bili oblečeni Rimljani je znano. Vidimo jih na antičnih freskah, mozaikih, kipih ter jih gledamo v kostumiranih filmih. Lahko si predstavljamo kakšna je bila obleka v polnem sijaju in kako so jo nosili rimski vojskovodje in rimske patricijke… Kako pa je danes nositi ta oblačila, kako se na lastni koži občuti vse te naborke na tuniki,… blesteti v rimskem oblačilu na nekem karnevalu, turističnem obisku ali celo na poroki…
Tudi to je mogoče. V projektu ArchaeoRobe smo izdelali kolekcijo rimskih oblačil po avtentičnih virih, v sodobnih materialih in s postopki, ki so najbližji tistim iz antičnega časa.
The Challenge
How to bring Romans to life?
Of course this is not really possible, but we can re-create Roman times by dressing in Roman clothes, by walking in them, moving, dancing and acting like this ancient people. Re-creating ancient times can also be accomplished during the festivals, carnivals, museum tours and various manifestations for tourists.
The Solution

It is important to reconstruct the clothes very precisely. The process of studying archaeological artifacts, historical sources, examining preserved clothing etc. in order to recreate them, takes lot of time, effort and dedication. The colors, materials and details are all important features of historical costumes, and the more genuine these features are the more the costume looks more authentic, historical and real.
